The public enquiry into the proposed pylon line from Ullapool down to Denny near Falkirk is nearing its end. The power line if given the go-ahead would destroy the historic battlefield of Sherriffmuir near Stirling and ruin miles upon miles of beautiful countryside.
The enquiry has cost, so far, £10,000,000.
What is the most interesting for me is the fact that battlesites like Culloden will never be allowed to be developed over due to the graves of the men who died. Why is this not the case with Sherriffmuir?
Scottish battlefields are not given the same protection as those in England, a policy that must be changed.
